Anna Lugovska

Lugovska’s practice explores the fragile relationship between individual and collective memory, examining how history, cultural encounters, and global influences shape contemporary identity. Working primarily with oil on canvas and wood, the artist investigates time, visibility, and physical presence through layered compositions, anonymous crowds, reflections, shadows, and intense light. Hands become important carriers of memory and emotion, while calm, unreadable faces suggest social masks and the subtle distance between intimacy and separation. By merging reality with imagination and softening material surfaces, the artist creates contemplative spaces where perception becomes unstable and moments of silence, reflection, and fragile connection can emerge.
